Post 16 Offer

Students at Highfield Post 16 have outstanding outcomes in terms of their next steps and over the past 3 years 100% of students have moved into further education, training or employment.

Whether next steps include further education, training or employment we support our students and families, to explore Post 19 options. Our successful Destinations Evening is held each year and hosts providers of education, accommodation, employment and care services who are available to talk about what they can offer our young people when they leave school.

Highfield Post 16 incorporating City Futures work with outside agencies, local businesses, and the Highfield School community to provide appropriate work and volunteering placements for each of our students. All agencies that we involve in our work experience opportunities share our passion in enabling our students to achieve their full potential through appropriate work-based placements. We aim to build some very strong relationships with local businesses and our school community.

Each placement is matched to our students interests, aptitudes and skills and is risk assessed appropriately. Some students are accompanied by a Teaching Assistant when taking part in work experience placements and others attend independently after a few sessions.

Each student completes a work experience log book about their work placement which includes what they have learnt, things they have enjoyed or found difficult, use of equipment and self and employer’s evaluation. This log can then support applications, Curriculum Vitae for Moving on after Post 16 into the world of work or College.

We are always looking for Work Experience opportunities for our young people.

If you feel you maybe be able to offer a Work Experience placement or a careers talk/opportunity to our students.

Please contact Caroline Randall, Careers Lead on 01924 264240, who would be very happy to discuss the options available with you.
